Bob Marley literally worshipped a former Emperor of Ethiopia named Haile Selassie. An Ethiopian Orthodox Christian, who was hailed as the second coming of Christ.
It's often said, though no definite date is ever cited, that Selassie himself denied his divinity.
Born Tafari Makonnen, Selassie was the heir to a dynasty that traced its origins to the 13th century, and from there by tradition back to King Solomon and Queen Makeda, Empress of Axum, known in the Abrahamic tradition as the Queen of Sheba.
