Got teenagers?
Hell yeah the teenagers leave everything running.. no matter how often I go behind them and turn stuff off. When they were gone for a month, my bill went from $265.00 down to $90.00.. no kidding. When they came back, up over $250.00 again.
One time my kid, I have three, comes home after brainwashing at school and give me a lecture on carbon emissions from coal burning power plants...so I sit there and listen, and at the end he asks why I haven't said anything...I said hey Mr. Green, you just left 42 lights on in the house...and he said "But dad we have solar power"...and I felt like a dumbass... Hi. I am just curious if this is happening elsewhere.
10 years ago, the highest bill for electricity I got was during the summer months (with the AC on) - $167.00 in August.
NOW - my monthly "budget" payment is a whopping $525.00 per month! This is - NOT DOABLE for me. This is more than 3/4 of my weekly take home pay! Plus of course, like everybody else that does NOT work for the government, or in banking, I haven't had a RAISE IN ALMOST 5 YEARS. I am lucky to have a job at all and I know this.
I'm in New Jersey "at the shore".
Anyone else?
