[quote:LOLO 21742116:MV8xNjU0OTc2XzMyNzYxODExXzk4QkFDNjg5] When Justine hears the number was 678 in the bean lottery, she is reminded that the website she looked at that said Melancholia will hit earth in a "dance with death" had a numerical order in which Melancholia would orbit the earth , pass it by, and in steps 6, 7, and 8 it will begin to come back around in a collision course toward earth. I think her subconscious registered this memory when she initially heard the number. Later in part 2 when her anxiety is building she looks at the website again that talks about the "dance with death" that's when we the audience actually see the steps 6, 7, and 8 on the website that she prints out. these 3 steps mark the turning of melancholia back towards earth. I guess the bride's step Mom in the movie was playing a big role in the running of the wedding and at the end of the celebrations she hears in private from the party planner that the number of beans in the bottle guessing game was 678.
She stumbles on her words, and says incredible and the party planner agrees. She then tells them to forget about the results and to forget about it and throw out the prize.
Clearly being such a heavily symbolic movie, this was nothing different than the rest of the weird stuff.
Anyone have an explanation for 678?
