Dear Me, oh how I do hate it when our American Bretherin start sarcastically critisising the UK ....... in fact it pisses me and about 40 million other Brits off, why ?
Britain as a Island nation has through its own people managed to face head on without question all kinds of tinpot despot dictators and madmen
We stood alone with our British colonies against the mighty German war machine, we have the guts of the Irish Scots Welsh Aussies Kiwis Indian Nepalise and many other Asian colonies and not forgetting our faithfull Canadian cousins
America at the outbreak of WW2 was plotting to join with Germany to attack Britain from the Atlantic seaboard !!
In Korea there was only ONE DIVISION that halted the Chinese Army in its tracks, The Gloucester Regiment (The Glorious Gloscesters) allowing half of the US battle group to fall back !! We were told to mind our own business in Vietnam !!
In the Falklands war the Brits were up against French Supplied munitions Jets and Exocets, American Cruisers and US Naval Intelligence as well as the Argentines !!!
The US led NATO ALLIANCE dictated that during the event of a full on Russian assault it was up to the British and German armed forces to halt The advance, this was to give the USA time to NEGOTIATE with the Russians they estimate at between 70 to 90 % casualties before they fired a shot in anger.
as for siding with the French well they never beat us in a damned war, thye will always "back you up" then give in after the Vino runs out, WW2 Vietnam
