Original Message Penn State has fired Joe Paterno, the iconic football coach with more wins that any other coach in Division 1 history, amid pressure stemming from a child sex-abuse scandal involving one of his former top assistants.

Paterno, 84, has announced earlier today in a press release that he would retire at the end of the season.
