"PORTLAND -- Occupy Portland protesters have not leave two downtown parks after Mayor Sam Adams delivered a deadline for protesters to leave the downtown encampments.

Police Friday said they had reason to think some in the camp were arming for a confrontation, calling for reinforcements from Seattle and San Francisco, along with constructing weapons and fortifications, allegations Occupy spokespeople denied.

Police said hundreds were possibly heading to Portland and people may be in trees during any police action. Officers said a hole was being dugin one of the parks, reinforced by wood. Some protesters were also thought to be hammering nails into pieces of wood for weapons and gathering gas masks."
