Poop on the lamps http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluorescent_lamp
LEDs are NOT fluorescent lamps (nor are they incandescent). the article is also flawed because it has been more than a few years since mercury was outlawed for use in fluorescents. if the bulb has the green cap, or green stripe adjacent to the cap, it is a modern non-mercuric lamp.
The chap was asking about wavelenghts emitted by the flooresent lamps
ahhh, ok. i wasnt clear on it being a response to the fluorescent question. in the words of dear departed gilda radner "never mind"...lol
Home depot has an awesome deal on a 12 watt, 800 lumen Phillips led bulb (soft white)! Package claims a life expectancy of 22.8 years. Reg price was $39. It is on sale now for only $14.98.

For whatever reason their website does not specify this price. As well I don't know if the same deal apples to American customers. It's a great deal though, and on till the end of November. I picked up a couple, then decided to purchase a couple of more, only to learn that they had sold out and that the next truck would be in within a few days. The clerk said that they had sold ten thousand dollars of these led bulbs in a short time (Kelowna store) So they are a hot item....
