[quote:AuthorAuthor:MV8xNzE5MzE2XzI4NDU1MjAwXzM4NDQ5NERF] [quote:A Lovely Funeral:MV8xNzE5MzE2XzI4NDQ1NTk3XzRGQ0Q4NTAx] I bet he signs all those books for a small fee of $500,000 at least per store. He probably gets more than that.
You don't know much about the book business, do you? Publishers pay for book tours, not bookstores. The book business is a small time industry. If he signed 5,000 books (ouch that would hurt) his royalties on those books would be $10,000 tops. Publishers then wait six months before they pay the royalties, and hold back 30% to cover returns. The guy earns about $40,000 a day from his radio show to give you a comparison. He doesn't have to wait six to 12 months to get paid from it ether. The book tour is a tiny thing. I'm not sure why he does it because it can be exhausting. But he was full of energy even on his third stop yesterday after doing his radio show.
It was at a book signing. He's on tour. I saw him on his third stop for the day.
Some of you are probably going to hate what I have to say.
Despite an exhausting day for him with a 3 hour radio show and then four cities to do book signings, the man absolutely glows!
Here we were in a large bookstore with several hundred people in line to get his autograph, some with multiple books.
Imagine how your hand would feel after signing thousands of books in a single day.
But the energy field around this man at about 6:30 pm was like no other person in the room. It was clear and pure. He persona was alternating between being happy, enthusiastic, loving, cheerful - you name it,
and that's the way he was.
Yeah, the guy is the real McCoy. He is the genuine article trying to do his best most of the time.
