How many sheep does one employee go through in a day? (roughly)
In Australia a really good shearer does 200 merinos. In New Zealand a really good shearer does 400 crossbreds. Its getting harder because the sheep are getting bigger every year.
Seriously, its been rated as the hardest job in the world. Supposedly equivalent to running 2 marathons in one day.
Most of you prob don't even know what a sheep is, let alone a shearer.
Some days it can be as hot as 52*C outside, and some people have measured 60*C inside the sheds.
Guys I know have had 12 stitches (from a cut) and come back to work the next day. A Maori lady in NZ had a baby inside the shed, and was at work the next day.
Its a lifestyle. And you have to be a bit crazy to love it, and I do.
And so you know, my IQ is over 150, so we are not all deadshits.
