[quote:Biochemky:MV8xNzMzMTczXzMwMzQ5MDU3Xzc0QjNGNDBD] According to a U.S. seismic hazards map developed by the USGS, Salt Lake City, UT is well within a defined seismic zone. http://nationalatlas.gov/mapmaker?AppCmd=CUSTOM&LayerList=Seihaz&visCats=CAT-geo,CAT-geo According to the Utah University Seismic Systems (UUSS) network, there has been a swarm of 16 small earthquakes in Utah. http://www.seis.utah.edu/req2webdir/recenteqs/Maps/111-39.html The epicenters of these earthquakes have been at Emery (primarily), Huntington, Price, and Mount Pleasant, UT. The largest earthquake in the swarm measured 3.4 magnitude quake with an epicenter at Emery, UT and happened earlier today. http://www.seis.utah.edu/req2webdir/recenteqs/Quakes/uu00009678.html Emery, UT is located about 100 miles due south (175 miles by road) of Salt Lake City, UT. http://geology.com/cities-map/map-of-utah-cities.gif A shallow (3 km, 1.9 miles depth) 3.0 magnitude earthquake centered 129 km (80 miles) south (191°) from Salt Lake City, UT was also recorded this past Sunday, March 25, 2012. The town of Leamington, UT is nearest (12 km, 8 miles northeast) to the epicenter of this earthquake. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/uu00009639.php The USGS database shows that there is a 51.005% chance of a major earthquake within 50 kilometers of Salt Lake City, Utah within the next 50 years. http://www.homefacts.com/earthquakes/Utah/Salt-Lake-County/Salt-Lake-City.html A 6.2 magnitude earthquake struck within 100 miles of Salt Lake City, Utah on March 28, 1975. At the time of the quake it was the heaviest earthquake in the continental United States to happen since the deadly Los Angeles area quake that occurred in 1971. Had the 6.2 magnitude quake been centered in a populated area, say geologists, it could have caused great destruction and considerable loss of life. http://www.seis.utah.edu/REGIONAL/PERSON/1975poca/1975poca.htm This link lists all of the earthquakes within 100 miles of Salt Lake City, UT since 1973. http://www.homefacts.com/earthquakes/Utah/Salt-Lake-County/Salt-Lake-City.html A 5.5 magnitude earthquake (intensity VII) also struck near Salt Lake City on May 22, 1910. http://www.seis.utah.edu/lqthreat/nehrp_htm/1910salt/1910sl1.shtml [/quote]

I just woke up from a very realistic dream about an earthquake in salt lake city, utah. I'm still waking up and using my smartphone to log this, but wanted to get this down for the record. The weather was warmer than it is now and it was raining during the earthquake. In the dream, a woman that I did not recognize was telling me about small earthquakes that salt lake was having. Suddenly a big earthquake started shaking buildings apart.
Okay, my battery is going to die, I'll leave the story there for now.
