[quote:Anonymous Coward 1480099:MV8xNzQ3ODQzXzI4OTcwOTA0XzVBNTVBRTdG] [quote:Anonymous Coward 7103817:MV8xNzQ3ODQzXzI4OTcwMTk5X0ZCMzUzODMz] To the OP: Is 33 degrees the cap, or are there actually higher degrees of 34 and beyond that some may attain? By the way, how did you get to be 33 degrees? Did you work your way up from 1°, or were you sort of born into it? And I am curious, can anyone without any Masonic connection join an order and one day attain 33°, or is that essentially impossible? [/quote] The OP isn't a 33rd degree. The highest degree obtainable in the Scottish Rite is the 33rd Degree but this is considered an honorary degree and only a small percentage of masons are given the opportunity. The 33rd Degree is conferred to a 32nd Degree mason who holds the KCCH title. The KCCH title is also an honorary title invested to 32nd Degree masons. More information can be obtained below: http://www.phoenixmasonry.org/masonicmuseum/KCCH-Hat_and_Jewel.htm You do not need to know any masons in order to join the fraternity. There is a section on the application where references can sign their names. These do not have to be masons at all, or men in particular but can be anyone to vouch for you being a person of high integrity, and well reputable. To ask for the 33rd Degree is to not ever attain it. You get out of masonry what you put into it. If your committed, and loyal to say the least, perhaps the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite will notice this. It should be worth noting that if a mans intension is to join the fraternity in hopes in gaining the 33 degree status, they are joining for the wrong reasons - and a man looking to join our fraternity with ill-intent is highly frowned upon.
