when the last republican convention was here in minnesota in the capitol of saint paul. i lived right downtown in the middle of the whole thing. we had full police in riot gear and gas masks and on horses. msnbc reporting live every day from this one park. i saw men getting arrested for no reason i could see except that they looked like punk rockers (anarchists). if you even wore a backpack you were asking for trouble. we had snipers on the roofs of the CHILDREN'S science museum. that blew my mind. we had snipers on top of a LOT of buildings. unmarked police cars on every block. sheriffs from the 5 state region. huge guard rails, they threw tear gas if you even said "boo". 
most of the "anarchists" were police in disguise. they were easy to spot because they would dress all in black looking "badass" and then all the people with cameras would get ready for the big "let's through a brick in the glass window" photo op. no police would stop that. they made SURE everyone professional got an excellent view of it for the papers. it was sick.
people would call them out and they would go running or slink off back to their unmarked cars.

right outside my window in mears park they held a very peaceful rally. indigenous people having a dance and such. and the police completely circled the park in full on riot gear with assault rifles, guns, batons, shields, horses, helmets. it was unreal.

for the 1st time i really got a taste of what a police state is and how helpless and small it truly makes you feel. you become submissive fast and do not draw attention to yourself.

you realize very quickly how outnumbered you are and they do a very good job of intimidation. i felt like i was in the movie a clockwork orange.

Not many of you will be able to admit defeat. But you have to realize that in the days of the revolution the British only had rifles and ships...now they have armed drones and a ton of advanced, lethal weaponry.
Cops, soldiers, paramilitary.
