Exactly.
OK - either of you care to explain what's wrong with field rotation being the reason for the perceived rotation? Care to explain why astronomers have to polar align telescopes to stop objects rotating for viewing? Or maybe you could give us your explanations of why different people in different parts of the world, looking at the moon at the same time will see it rotated differently...
Funny how "field rotation" of the moon never existed in our school curriculum when I was a kid. We were taught that the moon would be in the same position facing the earth, as it rotated around the earth, no matter what shadow was cast on it. Hmmmm....odd, isn't it? :goodnews:
You're talking about two completely different things. One side of the Moon DOES always face Earth, but that one face APPEARS to rotate as we watch it cross our sky. It's normal.
I'm on the East Coast, USA. Go outside and look at the man in the moon, it is SIDEWAYS.
When you look at the moon, every night, when it is a half-moon, crescent moon, etc, it is SIDEWAYS.
A friend in Maine confirmed that the MOON IS SIDEWAYS. Go look at the moon!
This is NOT a Cheshire Moon, the moon is physically SIDEWAYS.
(or the earth is tilted)
