[quote:Anonymous Coward 14785766:MV8xODQ0MjUwXzMwNzYzNDIwX0E0ODAxMTkx] [quote:amywood71605:MV8xODQ0MjUwXzMwNzYyMTU2X0JDRDU4N0VE] I work the night shift too. 11pm to 7:30 am 5 nights a week, but I prefer 3rd shift. That way, I am home when my kid are awake. Hubby works 2nd shift, so I sleep until he has to go in, and we dont pay for daycare that way. And, if one of my boys has something at school or something, I'll skip sleep and do that - my kids are #1. I actually like my job. I'm a medical assistant and I enjoy helping other people.
sorry, but I think you made the OP's point. There isn't much time for family building there. You may think it sounds just wonderful, but if you asked someone 100 years ago they would be repulsed at such a broken family. Both parents slaving away and trading off their kids time because they both HAVE to work. Or at least most couples say they both have to work, which most do. And some couples just say they both have to work but they mean they both have to work to maintain the lifestyle they prefer. And what about the "working to save for my child's education?" What a bunch of BS that has been sold to the American people. Deny your children the time with you that they need and deserve during their most formative years so you can pay for an education that they may or may not want when they are 18. And a BS education at that. "My child will have a better life than I did" - How strong was the propaganda that convinced American's that a life without college was a life in the gutter? The Progressives orchestrated a way to take over your kid's mind regardless of how you may have raised them. And besides that what are we left with? A shitload of people with Humanities degrees, Psychology degrees, Political Science degrees, who don't know squat and end up working at Target anyway (And this is even in a good economy)! (And those "student loans" chalk up debt that will never be repaid to society.) So...either they are trained in social engineering or can't produce anything with their hands anyway, nor teach anyone else to do so. We are left with no one to sustain our infrastructure. No plumbers, electricians, mechanics, tool makers, no one to manufacture our food. We have people joining roadcrews who mix pavement so that it cracks within a year, sidewalks that buckle in a few months, and buildings that should be considered temporary housing instead of permanent structures. And how absolutely ingenious of us was it to create a society where our major institutions operate only from 9-5? Doctors offices, banks, lawyers - only working when WE'RE working! Then we have to go grovel to the boss to be able to use these institutions and apologize for having to leave our own work, or get reprimanded or fired for doing so, when we have no FREAKIN' CHOICE? Civilization's big leap into the modern world in the last 100 years could have done a hell of a lot better.
