Yes, I do know about this already but never knew they dubbed it U2charist :sigh: Unfortunately, they went down the wrong road too in 20+ years time, much like the rest of the music industry. I just love their sounds together...all blessed with God's gift to the end :hf:
A legendary performance, and what is so amazing is how young the band were when they wrote this song. I would wholeheartedly disagree about the band going down the wrong road though. U2 and their music are as deeply spiritual now as they were back in 1987. The music is still there, the depth of the songwriting and the spirituality is most definitely still there, in fact far deeper now. It's just been dressed up with some fancy wrapping paper post The Joshua Tree to attract those who wouldn't ordinarily like U2 or understand them. Theres a lot of commercial materialistic bullshit around the band, and I do dislike that somewhat, but sadly I would say that is all part and parcel of the music industry to a large degree. The spirituality in their music is still as deep as witnessed in the Harlem church performance above, you just have to get past the fancy wrapping paper that dresses up these days. 'I have held the hand of the devil, it was warm in the night, I was cold as a stone' I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For The Joshua Tree 1987 'Sliding down the surface of things' Even Better Than The Real Thing Achtung Baby 1991 '3:33 when the numbers fell off the clock face' Unknown Caller No Line On The Horizon 2008 Peace out and :hf:
