Tampa Mayor Mayor Bob Buckhorn wanted to suspend Florida state law and the 2nd Amendment, because he believes that people who would ignore the laws already in place concerning concealed weapons, and unjustifiable shootings and such, would, for some reason only known to him, obey a temporary ban on firearms in Tampa during the Republican National Convention.
Gov. Rick Scott rightly told him to pound sand.
“I believe that there is no reason to have a concealed firearm in downtown Tampa that week. And to be clear, I am far less concerned with those who have concealed weapons permits than the ones who may somehow acquire a weapon and use it to create mayhem. ~Silly Democrat Bob Buckhorn

Question Bob: Why do you want to take away my natural right to defend myself against someone who ignores the laws already in place?
I can just see it now. Some Anarcho-Commie Occutard says to himself, "Geeze, I bought this Glock with the serial number ground off in a back alley, and was totally going to pack it into downtown and deliver some righteous justice to those evil fucking capitalist pigs, but Mayor Bob banned guns in the city for the week,...DAMMIT!!!"
