We haven't been given the entire John Titor story. Perhaps "John Time-Traveler" is a just a name like James Bond in which different actors fill the role throughout time.

So many people have dismissed him because of his specific dates. Yet he lives in a world where books are custom published. That is obviously not the world we live in right now, but it will be soon.
