This Morning i got bad News from Oz, the short Story is: After the Dolphins and the Flight Attendants now the Wombats of Australia are dying!
A horrible Scenario happen Australia!
Crisis meeting as disease wipes out wombats There has been a crisis meeting in Adelaide as wildlife groups mobilise to deal with a liver disease killing the wombat population in South Australia.
When sick, the animals become bald, get liver disease and struggle to walk.
Researchers have found the disease is caused when the wombats eat introduced grasses which have overtaken their native food sources. [link to www.abc.net.au]
Wombats Battling Killer Disease It has been recently revealed in a report that a liver disease in the wombats is causing them to go bald and then die finally. This has been revealed according to a team of researchers, which is of the view that the hairy nosed wombats are losing their hair and dying of this illness of the liver.
It was revealed by Peter Clements from the Natural History Society that there are hundreds of sick affected animals affected by this disease. [link to topnews.us]
Balding disease killing Australia's wombats blamed on foreign grass "It's huge and it's such an overwhelming problem, for example on Thursday afternoon in three hours I saw 274 wombats dying, four alive that didn't have the disease," researcher and wombat rescuer Brigitte Stevens said.
"Some of them just lying down on their sides, just eating dirt, can't even lift their heads."
Wombats are bulky, short-legged marsupial herbivores, bear-like in appearance and about 40 inches (one meter) long.
Researchers believe the disease is caused by wombats eating introduced grasses which have overtaken their native food sources. [link to www.myfoxdc.com]
