Original Message Significant Quake: Events appearing on USGS Significant earthquake list [link to earthquake.usgs.gov]
Quake Dates: Date when was one or more Significant Quakes including the day before and after (3 days of window)
NEO: Asteroids and near earth object at less than .5 AU [link to neo.jpl.nasa.gov]
NEO count: Number of NEOs making a close approach on a date

HISTORY of NEOs and Earthquakes
01-11-11 to 05-18-12

Over these 493 dates there were 209 Quake Dates, or a 42% pure chance of a USGS significant quake.

Percent of time Quake occurs based on total NEO count for that date:

70% when count is over 10 (7 of 10)
65% when count is over 9 (13 of 20)

53% when count is over 8 (22 of 41)
43% when count is over 7 (30 of 69) [close to 42% chance]

Percent of time Quake occurs based on 2-day average:

74% when average is over 9 (14 of 19)
62% when average is over 8 (18 of 29)

52% when average is over 7 (25 of 49)
43% when average is over 6 (46 of 106) [close to 42% chance]

Percent of time Quake occurs based on 3-day average:

100% when average is over 10 (3 of 3)
75% when average is over 9 (6 of 8)
70% when average is over 8 (16 of 23)

50% when average is over 7 (22 of 44)
39% when average is over 6 (40 of 102) [close to 42% chance]

Percent of time Quake occurs based on 4-day average:

100% when average is over 9.0 (3 of 3)
89% when average is over 8.5 (8 of 9)
74% when average is over 7.8 (17 of 23)

56% when average is over 7 (23 of 41)
42% when average is over 6 (23 of 41) [close to 42% chance]

As you can see, the more NEOs approaching earth on a given date in the past, the the higher occurance of earthquakes. When looking at past dates with highest combo of NEO count and averages, 76% had a quake with the 3 day window.

NEO Counts and Possible FUTURE Quake Dates
05-19-12 to 10-29-12

Dates with current highest NEO count:
05/19/12 = 8 NEOs
06/25/12 = 8 NEOs
10/28/12 = 7 NEOs

Secondary dates:
08/08/12 = 6 NEOs
09/14/12 = 6 NEOs
10/17/12 = 6 NEOs

These would be my earthquake watch dates. New NEOs are discovered all the time (sometimes after an object has passed us) so if more NEOs are discovered for these dates then probabilty for an event increases.
