My initial plan in the event of SHTF is to just monitor freqs to see whats going on, if i hear communication by people who sound like they know what they are doing, but are asking for help i plan on offering help.

I have thought that it could be a trap, but im willing to take my chances in that respect.

Title = SHTF Radio Communication POLL. What will you use?

Thread content - GLP'ers what methods of SHTF communication do you have or would you consider.

Assuming the internet goes down, cellphones stop working, power goes down and television and FM radio are intermittent what do you plan on using for local/national information.

Poll Options, vote the most appropriate and give detail in a post if possible.

1 - Shortwave Radio
2 - FRS - Walkie Talkies
3 - General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS)
4 - CB ( Citizens Band )
4 - UHF/VHF Handheld or basestation
5 - HAM Rig (basestation) at lower frequencies 10meters
6 - More that one of the aforementioned
7 - I only have an AM/FM radio
8 - I don't plan using anything because i dont have anything.
9 - The Zetas will contact me personally through my dog.
