[quote:Professor Frink:MV8xOTIxOTUxXzMyMTczOTEwXzM5OTVFNkY4] [quote:Anonymous Coward 18615910:MV8xOTIxOTUxXzMyMTczODU0XzVCNTY4REQy] He says the train was carrying styrene explosives and alcohol. Not to steal the thread. But this guy is right there on the scene. He'll let us know when the media starts lying through their teeth which should happen in 3....2....1...
Thanks for that info from your friend. My wife has been texting me saying the local news keeps changing what they say was in the load of the train. first it was styrene, then "alcohol products", then agricultural products. About 15 min ago 4 fire trucks and a police cruiser went barreling past my office heading that direction (only 4ish miles from the explosion here)so i'm waiting to see if there were additional explosions/fires (although i'm sure i'd hear the explosion, but again, i have heaphones on so who knows)
COLUMBUS, Ohio - People miles away could see an explosion caused by a derailed train early Wednesday morning.
Fields Avenue, near 5th and 11th avenues, was shut down because of the derailment of four to five cars that were carrying chemicals like denatured alcohol and Styrene, a chemical used to make plastic, shortly before 2 a.m.

UPDATE: Officials say a southbound train with two locomotives and 98 freight cars (1 was empty) of mixed freight derailed between E. 11th and E. 5th avenues. Eleven cars have derailed. It is not known just how many train cars caught fire. At least two are still burning as of 5:15 a.m. Norfolk Southern is working with emergency personnel on scene. Fire officials tell NBC4's Robyn Haines that there is some type of alcohol on board the train that is burning. They will allow the alcohol to burn for the next 4 to 6 hours (as of 6:40 a.m.). At that point they will re-evaluate the situation.
