BEYOND PISSED OFF.. DENTIST FUCKED MY TOOTH OVER.. now have a dead tooth and need advice on root canal and dental places in Tulsa

Ok, so... previous dentist killed my tooth. He did a filling without drilling out a cavity.. and the cavity progressed or something underneath the filling.. he also crappily did the filling, and now its progressed into my pulp and nerve. and now the pulp is half necrotic and dying. its barely alive, but is still going and no abscess yet but really bothers me and makes all my other teeth hurt. its been this way for a while now.
Anyways, we have no dental or health insurance. My job makes sure to give me under fulltime hours... just by the skin of the teeth and my husband can barely even afford the health insurance his job offers. Thats the state of the US these days... yup.
Thing is, I need to get a root canal done and it will cost either around 1,000 or 2,000 to get the whole thing done. I have tried carecredit... and we used that for previous medical expense and are now past the limit max and they refuse to give us an increase. So, I tried AmeriPlan dental discount... but that covers 60%, but im still gonna be paying over $1000. thats even with the ameriplan. one dentist said it could be near $3000 for everything. thats nuts!!!
One MyDentist office said they could work out a payment plan of 133 per month only if i made a down payment of 400 dollars. HA.. we dont even have $200 after all the other bills are paid. no place is offering any payment plan.
So, question is... i have been told to check out some dental teaching schools and see if they could do it for me, for a small fee. or just something affordable and not some 2 month long wait. ya dont wanna mess with a dead tooth, its like a ticking timebomb in there.
Anyone here have any luck with dental teaching schools for medical treatment? or how to go about that? i live in Tulsa, Oklahoma.. so, not sure. I know theres a few people on this board from Oklahoma and Tulsa areas.. so just curious what any of you might suggest.. to that, or anything else regarding things to look into for prompt treatment of this tooth.
