Yes.

There was also a dog from a few blocks over who would on occasion, get out of it's yard.

It came to my house thrice over the year.

I think it's name was Grover. I called the owners and they would come pick him up, not needing directions after the second time.

I remember he smelled bad..

Lol...

I remembered. It was a cat. It sat on my porch for a week and would attempt to sneak in if I opened the door. I searched Craigslist lost and found and local 'missing' posters, but was unable to locate who it belonged to.

Eventually it left.

I did save a mantis once. It was deep Summer and very hot. I was in a field and saw the mantis on a piece of brown grass. I am not sure why now, but I decided to take it home with me.

I placed it on a passion flower bush we had in the shade and went to sink for some water.

Using my finger, I placed a large drop of water right next to it. To my amazement the mantis went right for the drop of water and sucked up the entire drop.

I returned a few hours later and it was gone.

An X-2 class solar flare recently missed a direct impact with Earth.

Heliophysicists classify solar flares according to their brightness in X-ray wavelengths. C-class flares are the smallest on the scale, with X-ray measurements in the 10^-6 watts per square meter range (W/m^2), while X-class flares can exceed 10^-4 W/m^2. Why is that important?

An X-2 solar flare has enough energy to overload satellite circuits and disrupt other forms of communication should its full force be directed at Earth.

Modern astronomers believe that solar flares, or coronal mass ejections (CME), occur when magnetic reconnection events in the Sun’s atmosphere cause a short circuit in magnetic field lines. According to one theory, “magnetic energy” then accelerates the superheated gases into space. Although no one knows what “magnetic reconnection” is, it is the only explanation offered................
