[quote:Anonymous Coward 828694:MV8xOTM5MTA1XzMyNDgyMzYwX0E4REVEQzMz] [quote:christian:MV8xOTM5MTA1XzMyNDgxOTM1X0JBRTFGNkMx] [quote:Anonymous Coward 828694:MV8xOTM5MTA1XzMyNDgxNjYzXzI1QTlFMDhD] Well, a recent study found that people that feel disgust at homosexuals seem to have a lot of common traits. 1. They come from very conservative, religious or restrictive homes. 2. They had at least one very authoritarian parent that held anti-homosexual feelings. 3. They ALL have strong, but hidden homosexual urges and desires. Since this isn't allowed in their world view, they suppress them, but that turns into a lashing out at the people that make them feel the way they do.(Attracted.) The tests were done without a conscious intermediary, meaning they asked questions, but also hooked men's junk up to machines to be able to tell when they were getting turned on. It was a well done study, and confirmed what was suspected for a long time and has been shown in part in other works. So, that basically means that the stronger the anti-homosexual stance, the more authoritarian the parents and the stronger the attraction to the same sex is. *This is only true for men. When women show such feelings it's most likely not linked to personal attraction, but simply early training, probably from a man denying his own homosexual urges. You get called a closet case when you say those things... Because you are. Learn to except yourself and the hate and disgust you feel will go away.
1.Why do so many people DESPISE- Abortion? Is it because secretly they want to have an abortion? 2. Why do people hate Beastiality? Is it because they secretly want to have sex with a Zebra? 3. Why do so many people hate Pedophilia? Is it because secretly they want to have sex with a child? 4. Why do so many people hate Adultery? Is it because they secretly want to have an affair on there spouse? 5. Why do so many people hate Polygamy? Is it because they secretly want to marry multiple people? PEOPLE REJECT THE EMBRACE OF HOMOSEXUALITY BECAUSE IT IS WRONG FOR A CIVILIZED SOCIETY.. Just like the above 5 are... Civilzation will not survive if homosexuality does and flourishes as an acceptance... What people do in there privacy of there own homes, is their buisness, when they bring it to the Mainstream don't complain if you get some push back...
Those are all different topics, and the studies have not been done yet. I think that it's safe to assume that in part some of those things are exactly as you said however, though I realize you didn't mean it to be taken that way. People are disgusted by bestiality because they were taught to be and find themselves attracted to it. *Regular people aren't disgusted by these things, they simply don't want to do them. Only those suppressing urges feel the need to cover with exaggerated disgust. The same is probably true of pedophilia. Those that don't feel an attraction to children think it's morally wrong, but don't feel a strong sense of disgust about it, because they don't consider it on a personal level. Hate can be socially conditioned however. Like hating people of an inoffensive minority group. (Say Jewish people.) That could certainly be separate from the feelings of disgust that those that have such tendencies but are suppressing them feel. Most people don't despise abortion. I would imagine those that do still have the same authoritarian or religious upbringing. They likely don't secretly want an abortion though. Saying that is a silly deflection that doesn't even make logical sense. People dislike adultery because they fear being betrayed by someone they thought loved them. I have never heard of anyone hating polygamy. I can't even hazard a guess. Sorry. Maybe it's something to do with unequal resources? These things do not have proof however. (Still, easy enough to shoot down. I do think you are right to link the sexually based ones, but science will have to tell us if that's correct.) Your math is wrong however in your summation. (Bet you didn't even see the math, did you?) If fifty percent of all men suddenly turned gay, which won't happen because we are not biologically programmed for it, then in three generations the population would be down... Not at all. Why? Because one man can father children with hundreds of women. Now if fifty percent of women also make such a choice (It seems to be a true choice for them, not bi0logical in nature...) then you will have a reduction in population of fifty percent each generation. You would functionally never reach the end, but things would stabilize well before that, and women would decide to have children again first. So humanity itself is not at risk. Civilization however isn't just the amount of births and deaths, so how about we look at that separately? Will the fact that there are gay people stop society from functioning? It never has. Indeed, many cultures have thrived with very open homosexual practices. Will god come and smite us for those practices? Well, he's had forever to do so and hasn't, so my thought is that no, we're pretty safe on that one. I'm not certain you had a single point that exists the way you meant it in your post. I get the basic argument you're claiming I think. You have a religious belief system that says such things are bad and are closed minded about the topic. The undertone is based on an authoritarian religious upbringing or conversion and any evidence to the contrary makes you feel uncertain and scared. You can't admit to that though, so regurgitate very poorly though out ideas that someone else came up with in a similar mental state. *I could be wrong there. They may be your own ideas, but I've heard similar things before from Christians. The simple truth is that the studies show that homophobia is based in sexual desire for the same sex, at least in men. It may be hard to hear, especially if you feel that way and are in denial, but it's the fact of the matter.
I am not gay. I truly do not understand why gays are hated. The way I look at it is; Yes, being gay is a sin, but we are all sinners. I feel sorry for the gay people, because they wear their sin on their sleeve, we can hide ours. Jesus said to love my neighbor as I love myself. So, if my neighbor is gay, am I not to love them? Am I to put hate into my heart? Am I to judge their sin, while I hide my own? All this hatred towards gay people have me really confused. You are to hate the sin, not the people. Please help me understand the hatred.
