Freemasons are known as "
BUILDERS
". They revere The Great
ARCHITECT
Of The Universe (TGAOTU).
Consider the terms...
The ARCHITECT draws up the plan.
Then the BUILDERS manifest that plan physically via construction.
Initiates of the ancient mystery schools have long been known as BUILDERS. It long predates Freemasonry. It's a symbolic term for physically manifesting the plans put forth by an ARCHITECT.
Jesus was known as a "carpenter". Are we to believe he built cabinetry in his workroom like Bob Villa? It was a symbolic term. Whether an actual person or a fictional character in an allegorical tale, Jesus was an initiate of the ancient mystery school, just as freeMASONS are today. Go into a Freemason lodge today. Think you'll find anyone who lays brick for a living? It's symbolic. And it goes back millennia.
Questions arise...
1) Who or what is the ARCHITECT?
2) What exactly are the ARCHITECT'S PLANS?
3) Do these plans benefit mankind or only the ARCHITECT?
4) Is there a point of completion or is the building infinite?
OR
....are we human beings the rudimentary architectural plan, and it's our responsibility to "build" ourselves in an attempt to reach perfection, or something close to it? What would perfection entail?
