Original Message Many historical events happened on this day.

On this day, 67 years ago, at 8:16 in the morning, an American B-29 bomber, the Enola Gay, dropped an atomic bomb dubbed "Little Boy" over the city of Hiroshima.

An estimated 140,000 people were killed in the attack.
It was the first time a nuclear weapon had been used in warfare.

Three days later, 70,000 more people were killed with a second bomb, "Fat Man," that was dropped on Nagasaki and induced the Japanese to surrender.

But one of them is very recent, in fact, today is the one year anniversary--a most sobering anniversary.

It is the first anniversary of the worst loss of Navy Seals ever.

One year ago today, a helicopter crash, in the Wardak province of Afghanistan, killed 25 members of Navy SEAL
Team 6, along with five U.S. Army National Guard and Army Reserve crewmen, one civilian interpreter, seven Afghan
commandos and a military working dog.
