[quote:Anonymous Coward 14965559:MV8xOTYwMDY2XzMyODgyMzc2X0I0NzVEMTk2] [quote:Shellbe:MV8xOTYwMDY2XzMyODc3MDE1X0NDRUVGRTEw] also meant to add, when my father was a kid, his father was injured and out of work for about a year. with 5 kids they ended up getting food stamps temporarily. However, it was a stigma, and they did all they could to get off. At one point, my grandmother bought salted pork with them, and was told "that was a luxury and they could not purchase it with food stamps.” When did this change? part of the reason i am where i am is because my father drilled it into us that we needed to go to school and take care of ourselves so that we would never live like that. When the fuck did this change? Don’t mean to rant, and again, I strongly believe that we should help those in need, but this is really pissing me off lately. One time I tried to help my best friend get temporary assistance when she was 6 months pregnant and her boyfriend thought heroin was more important than the baby (she left him). It was one of the most difficult things to get, and in the end, she gave up. So how the fuck do all these people get away with this? I have to say, im all for food stamps for those who need it, but if you are buying whoopie pies, do you really need them? I just baked my husband a cake for his birthday. cost $3 for the mix at shaws. These cakes cost $5. I see people in the store buying $20 icecream cakes with ebt. I am an attorney working 80 hours a week and i cant afford those fuckin cakes. WTF
