If its so Grand why not just make it immediate for current recipients too? Is it because the current Medicare system is BETTER than the Romney/Ryan Plan? Well?
Those over 55 have been paying in their whole lives and could not opt out, could not invest the money. They were told they HAD to do what the government said so the paid in and were promised that the money would be there when they retired. But people under 55 haven't been locked in for so long. They will be given the freedom to invest or to stay in the government program where the money is taken and used for other things like funding abortions. So the difference is that those under 55 will be given a choice and hopefully will have enough time to invest or what ever so that the money will be there when they need it. Those over 55 don't any time left and they never got a choice. .
But if Romneycare is better why isn't he offering it to over 55 year olds?
Its not 'better'. Its just more sustainable. However it is better for two groups: the young and the old. It is terrible for the people stuck in the middle. It is better for the young because if they plan properly, they will be able to cheaply buy into a plan that will cover them into old age. It is better for the old because they will continue to have the government give them healthcare. The people in the middle would be pretty fucked.
