But it is pretty baffling.
I am fiscally conservative (but I love the fed) and socially liberal, what you would call a typical moderate republican in today's day and age I suppose. I am young and white and vote republican for the most part. Reason being is because it is in my best economic interest to do so. For example, I will be voting for Romney. I believe Romney is pragmatic and placates to the base with a lot of the social issues, I think he is all talk. He supported gay marriage before Obama did just giving an example. However Romney wants to get rid of capital gains tax for the middle class. You have to be an idiot if you are middle class and a frugal saver like I am to not be enticed by this. On the other hand what does Obama offer me? Not a whole lot. I am thankful he beat McCain and we currently are not at war with Iran, but I can't think of much else. As far as the tards are the right. Abortion will never be made illegal so I don't give a shit what they cry about. Gay marriage will eventually be legalized no matter how much bible tards get butthurt. So why vote even taking these things into consideration? Not me. I vote based on my own interest. That being said, I probably would vote against my own personal interest if there was a candidate whose vision I liked enough and I truly thought they had the balls to implement it. Bernie Sanders comes to mind for me. So I don't know. I know I am not typical, but I am certainly not irrational nor a "dumb white male" despite the fact I am white male and usually vote republican.
Republicans offered a good economy when in power in what year?
1981-1991 was a period of huge growth coming out of the malaise of the 1970's...
As we all know by now, the current Republican Party is as far right as they may think of Obama as "left." What I find most interesting is the fact that old people that have to know better continue to vote for the lowest common denominator. Some Democrats would vote party only of course, but would they support a guy that said something as crazy as what we hear and see out of the Republicans???
Hell No!
The days of the very moderate Republican Arlen Specter are long over and if old people keep reaching for the dumpster for candidates, it is over, and it will be no fault of President Obama. Lets all focus on making this a better country and quit the support of shoving medical instruments in the vaginas of women that want an abortion. Looks like nothing is more important on the agenda for the Republicans. I say they are a plague on society.
Wake up!
Obama 2012!
