It is a failed brine cavern. I see people using these terms interchageably, and they are not. They are 2 separate things. Caverns have failed before. We had cavern failure in 2003, Christmas day. People were not even given time to pick up presents under their trees. Nothing but slabs were an entire community used to be. This is a failed cavern again, and all of this could have been possibly prevented if the failure had been followed up on. It wasn't. A salt dome failure would indeed be catastrophic, but that hasn't happened. All near pipelines have been emptied and closed. The butane and gas caverns are being moved. The free underground gas is the problem, and that may never get resolved, but I can't see it being a manipulational thing.
I would like to agree with you and say its just an isolated failed salt cavern within the dome...but that doesnt make sense. The theory behind this is that Texas Brine attempted to drill in the layer above the salt dome...during this drilling it was suspected that they pierced the wall of the dome/cavern causing the cavern to lose pressure and fail... but there is one big hole in this theory. It has been confirmed that the cavern has failed in the BOTTOM area....ie not at the top where the drilling was....Texas Brine is a convenient scapegoat...yes...it also gives the idea that just 'one cavern' has failed...but if that is truly the case why has the cavern been breached by hydrocarbons at the BOTTOM as has already been confirmed??? ( they also confirmed that the dome was not breached in its top two third at all...) Forgive me for not finding time to link the appropriate findings to this post but can assure you that it is fact that they stated the hydrocarbon has breached the bottom...which implicates that the dome itself HAS failed or at least its outer wall far far underground...
You're thinking right, except no one, not even Texas Brine said that they drilled through the salt wall. What Texas brine said, was that they feared the wall of salt between the cavern and the earth was breeched. That simply means that they mined to close to the edge of the dome, and that could indeed have been at the bottom. Here is the letters from TB describing the breech, and notice, nowhere do they say they drilled a breech. Just that one occurred. http://theadvocate.com/csp/mediapool/sites/dt.common.streams.StreamServer.cls?STREAMOID=r1S1uVOg5qIcB8tIAu6ofJM5tm0Zxrvol3sywaAHBAnTo4Mh02qJB27hYWewJpFLE0$uXvBjavsllACLNr6VhLEUIm2tympBeeq1Fwi7sIigrCfKm_F3DhYfWov3omce$8CAqP1xDAFoSAgEcS6kSQ--&CONTENTTYPE=application/pdf&CONTENTDISPOSITION=OnlineSinkhole3Letters080912.pdf The scientific theory group in our first public meeting explained this; mining to close to the edge of the dome and breeching as a possiblility. Texas Brine was directly asked how close the cavern was to the dome edge, and they flat out said they had no idea. I heard them say it myself, but I know I've seen it documented as well.
In early September 2010, Texas Brine began reworking the cavern well, milling a section of salt higher than the existing cavern roof, at 3,400 feet deep, to see if the upper strata could be mined. A DNR permit for that work was issued in May 2010. Ball explained Wednesday that officials believe that area, which extended for about 100 feet through the well casing above the cavern roof, may be the source of the possible salt dome wall breach. http://theadvocate.com/home/3580029-125/dome-issues-kept-quiet This article was posted 13th august...it clearly states they believe the breach is where they drilled...but since then it has been confirmed that hydrocarbons have breached the bottom of the cavern... http://enenews.com/officials-hydrocarbons-could-have-breached-bottom-of-cavern-oil-detected-on-top-of-sinkhole-videos So what caused hydrocarbons to breach the bottom of the cavern??? Obviously the dome itself has failed....at the bottom....if the dome itself hadn't failed the hydrocarbons wouldnt be there. "Preliminary findings through sonar testing provide information that the top two thirds of the cavern are in tact." http://assumptionla.wordpress.com/2012/10/01/845-a-m-morning-update-2/ And the next question...if something has eroded away at this cavern...to allow oil in...well that something has cme from outside or another cavern ( which has been excluded )...so whether it came from underneath or the side who knows how many other caverns have been eaten in to or under???
Your article supports what both of us has said. An examination of DNR records, interviews, public statements and public meetings established the following: •The possibly failed salt cavern may be closer to the outer wall of the Napoleonville Dome than Texas Brine officials believed. •DNR defended the timing of its disclosures about the history surrounding the salt cavern as matching the emerging facts of the incidents in Bayou Corne. •Sonny Cranch, Texas Brine spokesman, said company officials have been as surprised as anyone about a possible collapse of their salt cavern. •DNR officials allowed Texas Brine to deposit naturally-occurring radioactive material arising from drilling into two company salt caverns, including the one that may have breached in the Bayou Corne area. As of Wednesday, state environmental officials had not tested the sinkhole for radioactivity. In a Jan. 21, 2011, letter, Mark J. Cartwright, Texas Brine Co. Saltville LLC president, informed DNR about a failed integrity test of the cavern and company officials’ subsequent suspicion that the cavern may have breached the Napoleonville Dome’s outer wall, possibly explaining a loss of pressure in the cavern during the test. (Read letter.) “One obvious concern is the cavern’s proximity to the edge of salt,” Cartwright wrote to DNR’s Joseph “Joe” S. Ball Jr. “There have been several studies in this regard, and Texas Brine has mapped the salt boundary near the cavern applying available well log data, seismic data, and most recently, vertical seismic data gathered during the workover. At this time, a breach out of the salt dome appears possible.” The link I posted, of the letter from Texas Brine, nowhere says anything about drilling causing a breech. That was Balls guess. We haven't seen hide nor hair of him once the attempt to keep that breech covered up, was discovered.
The fact that the top two thirds are in tact also puts paid to the tremors being caused in any way by the roof falling in or falling debris of any nature...so what caused the tremors to start...? Why did the cavern get breached? And why are the tremors still continuing and spreading...? Something is undermining the whole area....almost like a beast eating away at the earth. Maybe the bacteria mutated so much that the oil has become a living beast out to consume everything...
Let the reader understand: I will never go back to Blue BAYOU, there will be no place for the Children to play soon. May as well eat RICE dogs from RICE Dog 7.
I am DEPUTY Dawg. Boss says can't say much, BIG BOSSES won't tell anyone THE TRUTH. But good people always find a workaround. Avoid the censors, no need for a V-chip here.
Please think hard about this. Remember things MUST get worse before they get better. I'm always at HOME when I make ASSUMPTIONS, but sooner or later you can NEVER go home again.
Much love people. And pray always.
