Tangipahoa Parish officials called for a mandatory evacuation for residents along the Tangipahoa River. Officials said the dam at Percy Quinn State Park was failing and flooding was imminent. The flooding will affect 40 - 50,000 residents, who had less than 90 minutes to evacuate after the order was given, Jeff McKneely, a spokesman for Tangipahoa Parish said. Shelter locations are as follows: Hammond West Side Elementary Montessori School, Hammond Junior High Magnet School, Natalbany Elementary School, Nesom Middle School, Amite High School, and Kentwood High Magnet School.
