Original Message The potential sale of giant Australian cotton farm, Cubbie Station, to a Chinese-led consortium has stirred local controversy following the approval by Aussie government of the sale.
For the buyer Ruyi, China's largest wool and suit producer, its decision to buy Cubbie is in line with its strategy of buying farms related to the commodity it uses for production. The company is currently importing about 10 to 20 per cent of Australia's ultrafine merino wool and last year bought a wool-producing farm in western Victoria for more than $15 million.
