Original Message What time does the Paralympics closing ceremony start tonight? All you need to know about London 2012's curtain call

London 2012 has already provided us with three barnstorming ceremonies this summer, and tonight the summer of Olympic and Paralympic action looks set to go out with an almighty bang.

With several tonnes of fireworks, some of the world's biggest recording artists, and no doubt a whole raft of surprises in store, we've collated all the info that you need to know before this evening's spectacular so that the only thing you'll need to worry about is who gets which spot on the sofa.

What time does it start?

It begins at 8:30pm BST on Sunday 9th September, and is officially called 'The Festival of Flame', which sounds very grand.

It should last until around 11:30pm.

Who is planning it?

Kim Gavin has been trusted with the job of organising this mother-of-all-concerts evening, but fortunately he has a fair amount of pedigree.

Gavin is best-known for his work choreographing - and being the general creative genius behind - Take That's record-breaking live tours, with the band's 2010 Circus shows in particular gaining him a reputation for spectacular staging. He also helped out with the closing ceremony of this year's Olympics, so as with last month's show you can expect some pop surprises.

He has been assisted by Mark Fisher, who designed Cirque du Soleil's show in Las Vegas, and Hamish Hamilton, who is a Grammy-nominated TV director considered the best live television director on the planet.
