Original Message The cast and crew of a film which sparked violent protests in Egypt and Libya, leading to the death of four US diplomats, claim they were duped by the director into believing it was a historical drama entitled Desert Warriors.

The film appears to show words dubbed over the top of those delivered by the actors.

"We are shocked by the drastic rewrites of the script and lies that were told to all involved. We are deeply saddened by the tragedies that have occurred," the statement said.

Garcia, one of the actresses, said the script she was given was titled Desert Warriors and "was going to be a film based on how things were 2000 years ago".

"There wasn't anything about Muhammad or Muslims or anything," she told the Gawker website.

Muhammad was called "Master George" during the shoot, and all the offensive words were dubbed on in post-production, she said.
