For one thing, our troops have better equipment & training than those in 'Nam. There are some interesting similarities though, and you may be right.
When I reflect on the number of times the government has left our guys in remote locations with their dicks in their hands (the Marines, in fact, in the Pacific in WW2 being likely the most well-documented example in recent, historical memory), I can't help but to have a miserable feeling in the understanding that no matter their training or their weapons, our people will, at some point, be SOL if there are too many fires burning at once in too many places. DARPA hasn't yet invented a magic wand.
Original Message
Is there anyone in this audience that remembers the events of 1968, the political climate in this nation, and how the press delivered the news? I have an awful, visceral feeling our men and women overseas may be on the threshold of an event we do not have the resources to protect them from. Please pray for them. I certainly have...and will.
