When at war with a Country, it seems that there is no requirement to pay back debts that would aid them in making war on your own land.

there is a Japan/China conflict, would the U.S. enter on the Japanese side for that reason?
Japan also holds a lot of U.S. Debt, but I'm willing to bet they wouldn't be too greedy if they needed help.
Just another potential piece of the puzzle, unless I'm totally wrong.
