[quote:KungPowMeowMeow:MV8yMDAxMzM5XzMzNjIyMTc4X0JBODRFMEI=] [quote:Robot Emotions:MV8yMDAxMzM5XzMzNjIxMzcxXzYzNDU4RDJG] The fact that Imitrex works well for you leads me to believe you might be suffering from a decline in serotonin. This is the traditional cause of migraine headaches. Some things that help boost serotonin levels: Avoid lots of sugars and carbs. Not completely, but cut back. Exercise. Bright light therapy. Like the kind used in seasonal mood disorders. Avoid stimulant cycles (coffee, sugar, alcohol as morning, noon, night routine) Sleep well. You have a problem with this, and lack of good sleep can seriously impact serotonin production. Might be the root of your problems. Avoid emotional stress. Might be tough considering you're in customer service.
Interesting. My doc had me choose between the imitrex and Paxil, due to the iteractions they have. I stopped the Paxil (it was meant to be temporary anyway after a death in the family last year) because the migraines were increasing from 2-3 times per year to almost once per month, and without the Imitrex, I'd have to call off sick in the middle of trips, stranding me literally all over the world. Nothing is worse than being sick in a hotel room in 7,000 miles away from home. Thanks for the insight! I appreciate all the responses!
Since around Labor Day, I can sleep all day and still be exhausted. I have had 4 migraines in that time period as well, and my insurance company will only pay for the medication to treat 2 migraines per month, so I've had to suffer with the last two. To make matters worse, I am a flight attendant, so when a migraine hits at work the pressurization makes them so unbelievably painful I vomit.
I do my best to drink 120 oz of water, eat fresh fruits and veggies and exercise every day. I had the past two days and was so exhausted I didn't get much done before I head back out tomorrow for another 5 days.
Is anyone else having similar issues? I considered season changes, mystery virus, allergies, or something more malefic. Please give me your input!
