[quote:Anonymous Coward 24997521:MV8yMDA2MzA3XzMzNzU0MDAxXzlBQjgwQURD] if you know of a reputable source (say from the navy) that says this map is from them, then you might want to post it too (googling us navy map) shows this bs `map' is on every blogger and nutcase website world wide- yet doesnt actually have a single link anywhere that actually leads to a us navy website that says what it does... colour me surprised that you (yet again) bring it up- from when I first heard about it 15 years ago sighs- that might even be after you were born- but I seriously doubt it lol (and yes I am being sarcastic- I got over seriously debating you guys when I bought my first house-10 years after I was legal to drink) something I doubt that the poster in question can actually do (buy beer legally that is lol) I first saw that rebuttal on a fax machine, after I challenged one of you on a bbs... so colour me seriously bored by the same shitte over a decade later... Reed is a retired geologist who studied oil formations in the Gulf of Mexico. Oversimplified, his theory says a crack in the North American tectonic plate runs from Louisiana through New Madrid to the St. Lawrence Seaway.
Seismic activity in the western Gulf of Mexico would directly affect the New Madrid area

I live in Ripley County Missouri right at 100 miles from New Madrid. I am very concerned about the connection this Sink Hole may have on the New Madrid Fault.
The Macondo well that was drilled by BP is located at the tail end of the New Madrid fault.
this is a major problem for us.
The only thing missing now would be a trigger. If a trigger comes, then there will be an eruption of the fault line, which could also allow for the Gulf of Mexico sea floor to collapse and sink, thus lowering the sea level of the New Madrid fault region. This would cause massive flooding, which would also include tsunamis caused by the enormous earthquakes that would occur.
