[quote:Anonymous Coward 1018225:MV8yMDA2NzAxXzMzNzMwMTI5X0E5QURBMzk0] You want to know where technology is going? First the cell phone is already the new P.C. but it is going to become so much more. Imagine a cell phone that has a fingerprint scanner to identify its user. Imagine a cell phone that can be used for all of your electronic money transfers, think of it this way you add credit cards to the phones data the same way you add pre paid cards to a cell phone now to begin with, then you will be able to connect the cell phone directly to your bank account. You will be able to use your cell phone for vending machine purchases(like Japan has experimented with), pay tolls(automatically by scanning the signal as it passes), pay for groceries, gas, everything. The cell phone will be your remote starter, and security control for your car. Your car will not run without the cell phone being present(theft deterrent). You will have interfaces to connect your cell phone to your T.V., and your home stereo. Your cell phone will be touted to protect you from identity theft. Your cell phone will be used to vote. Your cell phone will be your key to society. Without a cell phone you will feel like a second class citizen. Add some wireless accessories like glasses with a heads up display for any data you need to keep track of in real time all day. Software, data and media will be secure on special servers that will use a variation of sms which is heavily regulated in the U.S. and will be even further regulated with more fees to ensure only businesses with substantial capital will be able to afford to set up servers, thereby increasing the difficulty of obtaining free entertainment and ensuring the licensing tokens to allow the operation of downloads will only function when installed through the proper socket via the wireless sms system. Any attempts to bypass the security measures will result in the gps coordinates and identity of the offender being uploaded directly to law enforcement. That's all I feel like typing. [/quote]

Basically this article sums up how steve jobs saw our technological future... and he was pretty correct. its a short article and a good read.
But my question is who on GLP can see the furthest technologically.
I will start:
Wireless everything even energy w/satellite links (no more home wifi)
We will have perfected thinking software
We will have custom made software made automatically as part of our operating system.
Automated security platforms that you pay the business to have their automated security platforms to check your automated/custom augmentations on your operating system
Energy efficient cloud computing
Cloud everything
Different terms of service: we wont fear companies spying on us (like Carrier IQ - if you remember that). We wont know that the companies give our information to the Government, we wont fear big brother, because the company that gives the data to the government (so they can spy) will pretend to be against the government, they will pretend to be trustworthy to the people.
Data mining will be so big. it will be worth billions on paper, but to the defense industry it will be worth all nations GDP.
Data mining will be able to extract so much data from the raw data, they will be able to predict events and avert them... It will get so accurate they can predict events in peoples lives (and global events). The biggest problem will be to predict for untrue data/corrupt data, specially when the predictions become more powerful and accurate
If we get a brain computer interface humans will start to contain their thinking and all their thoughts on the internet or in their own personal data, and it will reprogram how humans think... it would be a very terrible thing. I think the industry will see this in studies and avert the disaster... no Brain Computer Interface.
So what do you all think about this future?
