just got to disagree with this part of your post the trick
to bartering is being able to trade something you have unlimited supply of either through harvest or construction
for something that you need.

what i mean by that is you have to be able to produce
whatever it is you want to trade away.

its nice to have extra stuff stockpiled but i promise you
you will not want to trade it away if you cant replace it.

what we all need to be doing is developing our own sustainable cottage industries and for those with
more resources perhaps more advanced industry.

Original Message With the collapse of the American Empire at hand, and the end of the dollar this society will return to the barter system, If you do not have stored food and water, witamins and meds, and survival gear you will not make it. Skills will also be the difference between life and death. Nurses, Gardeners, Mechanics, Carpenters, People who can figure shit out will be in a good position to make it, If you push buttons for a living, or just transfer numbers through space, if you waitress, or work in retail, or talk on the phone or have one of the many skilless, stupid jobs then I reccomend you start learning something that will make you useful post collapse. Just some ADVICE.
