[quote:Anonymous Coward 25172475:MV8yMDExNjc4XzMzODA1MDgxXzczODQwNDI0] [quote:asparien:MV8yMDExNjc4XzMzODA0ODI2X0ExQTA0RkQw] [quote:The Light Under the Door:MV8yMDExNjc4XzMzODA0NzIyX0FEOTFDQ0Y0] Many of us do actually have morals without needing a religion to tell us so. I find it interesting that apparently, as you say, many are born without morals and that's why you need religion to guide you. It's very sad, but I can see why TPTB would bind you with religion (as retarded of a belief system as it may be). I just don't think it works very well because in general your people do nothing with it but use it to make excuses, war, be homophobic, avoid rational thought, avoid responsibility, etc. Maybe they were right to try to kill off the Christians if you truly are soulless and moral-less people without your bindings.
Ok, fair call. Not so much inherently evil then so much as more inclined to be self-serving as opposed to kind and helpful to others. Prior to Jesus, people were judged by their moral codes and some (but not many) achieved an acceptable standard. Job is a good example. Your examples: War - Please explain how this is justified by christianity as opposed to people professing to be christians. Catholic Inquisition. Fear of Muslims that is and has been driving the current war insanity. Homophobia - Not scared of homosexuals at all. Love em to bits just as I love anyone else. Don't agree with homosexuality though, take that one up with God, its not for me to judge. Your people do judge. Ask any Southern church. Even you "don't agree" with it as if you have the right to agree or disagree with what people do behind their own bedroom doors Responsibility - Please explain? The idea that your sins can be washed away so it's okay to make them, the idea that the better life is after death and not on this planet so that more time is invested in getting jesus brownie points rather than making this world a better place. The idea that you don't have to listen to people when they say "stop" because your god compels you. The idea that you can feel superior over someone regardless of their situation because a book tells you that you are. We are not, by definition, soulless as we each have a soul. Morals are a different issue as everyone has a different moral compass. Regardless, we are called to higher accountability since Jesus died as we are responsible now for each sin we commit, unless we accept Jesus as sacrifice in our place. Face it, you have no real compass or you wouldn't search for one through an outdated book full of hate and death.. You are slaves to god because you need to be, for everyone's sake and safety. It's fine, really.
