[quote:Anonymous Coward 27514386:MV8yMDE0MzE4XzM0NDExNzkxXzI4RTZEQjI=] Quick search found this great article called "Bombshell study: Bombshell Study: High Methane Emissions Measured Over Gas Field “May Offset Climate Benefits of Natural Gas” By Joe Romm on Feb 8, 2012 at 6:29 pm link: http://thinkprogress.org/climate/2012/02/08/421588/high-methane-emissions-measured-over-gas-field-offset-climate-benefits-of-natural-gasquot/ here is an excerpt: "Led by researchers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Colorado, Boulder, the study estimates that natural-gas producers in an area known as the Denver-Julesburg Basin are losing about 4% of their gas to the atmosphere — not including additional losses in the pipeline and distribution system. This is more than double the official inventory, but roughly in line with estimates made in 2011 that have been challenged by industry. And because methane is some 25 times more efficient than carbon dioxide at trapping heat in the atmosphere, releases of that magnitude could effectively offset the environmental edge that natural gas is said to enjoy over other fossil fuels." Aren't you glad the oh so smart acdemic ones are in charge? I would rather remain the dumb one... [/quote]
Reports of mysterious loud earthquakes flooding in to Louisiana towns — “Of course the sinkhole comes to mind” — Dozens of miles away — So rare, no seismic monitors in area
Nobody quite knows what caused the ground in some parts of Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes to shake, but it certainly has people talking.
A little before 2 p.m. Wednesday, reports began flooding in to officials of tremors accompanied by a loud noise.
Some people reported hearing a loud noise similar to thunder accompanying the rumbling.
[USGS] had nothing to report, though its closest monitors are in Assumption Parish and extreme west Terrebonne
