[quote:Anonymous Coward 24431486:MV8yMDE3MDI5XzMzODk1OTU0XzY1Q0M2QTU5] How stupid and naive are some of you folks. IF there is a species out there that can make it here, ANY technology we have, back engineered or invented, will be waaaay behind what they have. The power of Hollywood to condition people - vis-a-vis Independence Day type genre has definitely worked. Just like the 1940's Westerns, where the Cavalry rides to the rescue, or 1980's lone hero saves the world conditioning, it is fantasy. If and when they turn up don't you think they will be closer to the idea of God (whatever that may mean to us may not be what they know) and more responsible? Projecting OUR ways of 'protecting' civilisation is all that is happening - you know, 'we had to destroy the village to save it/by waging was we are at peace' twisted logic. Is that what we are going to do? Try and kill the fuckers? sticks and stones versus tanks? to coin the Warner Bros classic at the end of their cartoons it will be 'That's all folks'. One virus and we are fucked. Caches of waepons capable of fighting off superior everything? You're 'having a larf'! [/quote]

Britain has a stockpile of aircraft, drones and weapons that could be used to fight aliens in the event of an invasion from space, according to the government's former UFO adviser.
In an interview with MSN, Nick Pope, who worked for the Ministry of Defence for 21 years, said that while Britain doesn't have a war plan, it certainly had sophisticated enough weaponry to defend itself.
