I'm going to tell you a little secret about "him and her". See, when you are created, you are singular, one form, male or female. When spirits are created, they are made in pairs. Masculine and feminine. Each spirit has it's "mate", but it's not like the human mate. It's more like a twin sister.

When they were allowed to dwell here and take up the flesh, they would enjoy pleasure, act as husband and wife, etc. But it's nothing like human love. When a mate is gone from the side of human beings, you can detach and let it go. Sure, it hurts, but you are made to move on, due to the chaotic and dangerous conditions of life. Spirits are not. They are made as one, when they are not around each other, it's like missing half your body, missing half your mind. The pain is constant and unrelenting. It makes functioning here difficult. Wearing the flesh means, you have to deal with it's issues.. Like intense emotion, all that good stuff. It's pretty hard.

It's not a love story, guys, it's actually a very painful thing for him to think about... Why do you think the system delights in mocking his pain?? Doomed lovers... It's all you ever hear about. A constant reminder of something he isn't allowed to have.

The Sun and the Moon, Ace of spades and the Queen of hearts.... Another sacrifice for man and creator.

It could be seen as a punishment, or a sacrifice, but if the spirit was once whole, both sides must have agreed to making such a sacrifice and both must carry the pain.
If she is not here, then I imagine her pain must be greater and more pure, since her spirit is not having the human experience on top of it all.
