THE PHILADELPHIA EXPERIMENT 
On August 12, 1943 (or October 28, 1943 -- accounts differ) the US Navy conducted a test of some sort on the USS Eldridge (DE [Destroyer Escort] 173) at the Philadelphia Navy Yard. The exact nature of the test is open to speculation, with possible candidates including experiments in magnetic invisibility, radar invisibility, optical invisibility, or degaussing (rendering the ship immune to magnetic mines). The test (or tests) were conducted, only to produce undesirable results. Afterwards, the project (supposedly called "Project Rainbow") was canceled.

As one can easily see, the actual facts are scanty. The Navy denies any sort of experiment ever took place and the ship's logs show the USS Eldridge was nowhere near Philadelphia at the time the test was supposed to take place. Of course, logs can be faked, and the government and military has lied before about certain events in the interests of secrecy and national security (witness the [b]Manhattan Project[/b]). On the other hand, research has shown no evidence of a "Project Rainbow," and although there was a code name "Rainbow,"it was used to designate Allied plans to combat the Axis in World War II and had nothing to do with any form of experimental technology. Finally, it should be pointed out that performing even some basic research (the internet is loaded with relevant sites) will show the entire "experiment" may in fact be a massive hoax, a modern urban legend that has grown to fantastic proportions over time. Such sensationalistic writing has been successful in creating similar epic myths before, with the "Bermuda Triangle Mystery" a prime example.

I dunno, maybe there is something to the experiment, but the media has a tendency to overdo it dramaticly, and so does the ear to ear method, when the story gets passed along.
Stealth technology does exist though, about timetravel..hmm Im still not convinced, the theory is sketchy at best, it involves physical energy so great that it would tear matter apart, and besides how could you accurately pinpoint an exact point in time and space? when they use a certain date in sci-fi movies, thats just BS, that number only exists in our minds, as a way to keep track of time, time that does not exist as we percieve it anyway.

It is still a fun thought experiment though, and knowing that the universe and multiple realities should be real to an extend, there is a universe / alternate reality out there, that has discovered and developed timetravel (but only if you apply the infinite universe theory)
and that theory sometimes feels like an excuse to say anything is plausible.
