[quote:Anonymous Coward 23406708:MV8yMDI0NTkwXzM0NTM3Mzk2XzM1NUNBRTVF] Excuse my crappy rewording of Google translate.... Here is the 1st English language story on yesterday's fighting.... Al-Qaeda-linked fighters gathered reinforcements in the tense Gao region of northeastern Mali on Saturday and waited to see if the Tuareg rebels that launched a failed offensive a day earlier would regroup for a fresh assault. Though the dusty town of Gao and its surroundings were initially under the control of Tuaregs, who are fighting to establish an independent state, the Movement for Oneness and Jihad in West Africa (MUJAO) ousted them at the end of June. On Friday, Tuaregs with the Azawad National Liberation Movement (MNLA) attacked the Islamist fighters but suffered a heavy defeat that saw about a dozen of their men killed, regional security sources said. To prepare for a possible new offensive, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM), which is linked to MUJAO, sent about 300 reinforcements from Timbuktu, about 300 kilometres (185 miles) west of Gao, witnesses told AFP. http://www.google.com/hostednews/afp/article/ALeqM5gmnirUocM8k2JGFH1tgxK9av7JWg?docId=CNG.83b5aba4c61bffc07ff9697c9fafdf93.451 IFUN and I were discussing the fact that we don't know how many Jihadis are in Northern Mali.... If you convince the MNLA to launch an offensive against the Jihadis... Best case, they might have some success...Worst case, you get an idea how integrated and numerous the various Islamists factions are.... Answer seems to be....they are closely integrated & there are number of them (already)... a number of new Islamists are in training now... [/quote]
Background - About a year ago, I stumbled on a website run by a group of students in France. They represented an organization called the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad (MNLA is its initials in French).
I kept up with their movement to establish an independent Taureg state in Northern Mali. As I followed their statements and the occasional MSM article, it became apparent that something was not quite right. These kids were being set up. I came to believe that I was watching Western intelligence operation to create the pretext for Western intervention in Africa (in other words, I was watching a "false flag" war in the making)...
By early October, the yellow journalism building the case for war was undeniable...So, I decided to create this thread. Using MSM news sources (with occasional commentary posts) I tried to give the background on what is happening in Mali & why it might be happening....
Thanks for reading - Here is my original post...
