Has there been a worst case scenario done by these folks at Texas Brine?
I don't know, El Q, but I will try to find out. There is so little credible info coming out down here. The local news on WAFB will do a 20 or 30 second spot about it a couple of times a week.
I was mentioning this to people I know in Colorado and California, and they didn't know ANYTHING about the sinkhole, said they've heard nothing about it.
There is a virtual news black out on the MSM.
Could that be because it isn't as big of deal as some people think it is?
Just curious why you're posting on these threads if you're such a doubter? If you don't think it's a big deal, fine, why not leave it at that? But why would you try and interject such opinion among those who DO think it's a very, very big deal? You're entitled to your opinion, but if you have not researched this top to bottom, left to right, then your opinion is based on nothing substantial. There are those of us who HAVE researched and we know that what's happening has the potential for extremely serious consequences for this entire nation.
No he is asking a valid quesiton. I'm a "valid" poster and I have wondered that also.
Hi allisaTX, you've contributed very substantial posts here and on other threads and you've asked very valid questions in detail . . . the doubters do not. They just make snippy posts. It's fine to be a skeptic, but if they're going to post, at least discuss the foundation for their doubts . . . I just think everyone should have an open mind about this, because there's a lot we don't know - but there's a great deal we DO know.
Guys, things just got a lot worse at the sinkhole down here.
This is less than 50% of the article:
Officials: Math doesn’t work; end to evacuation is unclear
The math isn’t adding up in Assumption Parish, and some parish officials are worried about what might be happening underground near a Bayou Corne area sinkhole.
State Department of Natural Resources scientists said they think a subterranean Texas Brine Co. salt cavern failed, allowing earth to partially fill the 2,250-foot-long vault and ultimately cause the sinkhole to form about 200 feet to the northwest of the cavern’s top.
Parish officials say the volume of the brine-filled sinkhole is much smaller than the amount of displaced earth now in the cavern, prompting worries about other unknown subterranean voids or gaps left in the area by the shifted sediments that could lead to further disturbance at the surface.
Boudreaux and Waguespack said it is their worry that the possible voids or gaps underground left by the 2.7 million cubic yards of earth that shifted could lead to sinkholes appearing in other locations.
