Original Message I just got my laptop less than a year ago, so I don't see much since in getting a new computer again, esp. with how much I spent on this. I wanted something nice, but paid for it. I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6b63us. It has the i7 processor, 500 GB hard drive, 8 GB ram (came with 6, but I added), 17 inch screen - all in all I really, really like it.

I liked Windows Xp, vista was ok, and windows 7 has been my favorite yet. I'm thinking about upgrading to Windows 8. I can apparently get windows 8 pro for 39.99 if I directly download it (69.99 if I want it mailed to me). I'd rather spend just $40 then get a whole new laptop.

But - should I? How is Windows 8 different? Is changing to that hard or complicated? I'm pretty good with computers, troubleshooting - I've even done other work on previous computers (changed the hard drive in one, which meant literally taking the whole damn thing apart!). But, dont want to get into anything that would be TOO much, if that makes sense.

Any advice is appreciated!
