[quote:Anonymous Coward 455519:MV8yMDM1Mjg0XzM0MjM0MzEzXzdFM0JFMTQ5] [quote:Anonymous Coward 26774112:MV8yMDM1Mjg0XzM0MjMwMDYzX0JDNUU1RTgw] I'm in Brooklyn, overlooking the NY Harbor. Have a birds-eye view of everything from my balcony. We were very lucky, minimal damage, some trees knocked over on cars was all. Stopped by a major grocery store yesterday...it was at least 40% out of inventory and they were only taking cash. They were completely sold out of canned foods, milk, bread items, chip aisle was bare. Asked the store manager (who is a good friend of mine) if he could pull some items for me from the back. He said "that's it, we don't have any more stock...we don't know when we're getting the next delivery truck. They're not letting any food trucks thru NJ or CT, all the food trucks are being turned back. The government has deemed food trucks to be secondary. They're only letting in utilities trucks and medical personnel." I asked him if he had any idea when they would start letting food trucks thru and he said no. Then he got tears in his eyes and walked away. I'm going back to the store this afternoon to see if food truck deliveries have resumed. And do general recon in the area.
Thx, AC... all my best to everyone there. :verysad: :grouphug:
A few things first:
1. We know Grocery Stores are stocked for 3 days in most places
2. Every major Rail Line in New Jersey has major Damage as per Governer Christie's Initial Press Conference. As well, he is emphasizing water conservation
3. The Ports in NYC have severe Damage
4. PSE&G as well as Jersey Central say power restored from another week to ten days
5. It took about 36 hours for people in Hoboken to start panicking when 20,000 were stranded without proper emergency supplies
So could the great community of GLP please gather any information on:
1. Rail Line distruptions and damage, timelines to restoration
2. Port of Elizabeth, Philly and NYC Port Disruptions and damage
3. Same for Baltimore
We are seeing long gas lines obviously as well as people waiting extensive periods of time simply to eat at McDonalds.
Lets get the information and help some people out here. These ports and rail lines have all been effected and ultimately supplies a large portion of the country.
This is what GLP is good at.
Thanks.
