"Loud booms were heard across Bladen, Columbus and Robeson Counties Monday evening. Military exercises are being confirmed as the likely explanation.

Around 7:30pm many residents from Elizabethtown to Whiteville and even into South Carolina reported hearing one or more loud booms.

Our sister station, WMBF in Myrtle Beach, is reporting that Horry County police confirm that military exercises were conducted Monday evening around the area. The booms are likely sonic booms"
